Some days Yoongi just wonders at it all. He'll open his fridge (which was really just a holding area for condiments and kimchi and some beer pre-Jungkook) and look at the stacks upon stacks of produce, he'll sweep up bits of fur balls stuck in the carpet and pluck out random pieces of hay on the inside of his favorite sweater, he'll devote an entire evening to coordinating a proper, thorough bath, he'll go through his budget and make sure he has enough for next month's forthcoming clothing costs, he'll find himself drawn into small daily scuffles because no, shh, the bunny on TV is different, Kook, you're not going to be in a cage like her, I promise, and he'll just stop and think--what the hell did I get myself into? A bunny hybrid? To raise?

The truth is that aside from a very thrilling fish in college, Yoongi's never really been solely responsible for another living thing, let alone a child. Perhaps that's why he silently craved it so. He had no brothers and sisters, no big, extended family, no significant other, preferring to keep a quiet, simple life that revolved around work, making music, and a few close friends. Even then, something always felt missing. It was only when he walked into the hybrid pet shop, only half-heartedly considering the idea at the time, and saw Jungkook, felt the way his little body warmed his entire hand, that it struck him. Jungkook made him feel important. Made him feel needed. Like maybe he could be just the kind of stable home this little bunny deserved.

He doesn't wonder whenever Jungkook plays like this, head tipped against his chest, the silly, toothy smile taking over his expression warming Yoongi's heart in that way that only the bunny can manage. It just feels right. His own lips curl in amusement as he watches the upside-down face suddenly right itself, Jungkook scrambling off of his crossed legs only to trip over himself a second later. Yoongi simply helps him get back on his feet without fussing over it--this isn't the same vulnerable newborn he picked up earlier, after all. Jungkook's getting more and more capable every day. He's understanding more, too. So eager to fulfill what Yoongi asks.

"Red again, hm?" Yoongi watches fondly as Jungkook obediently presents the beloved T-shirt to him with all the self-importance he can muster. It just makes him want to hug and praise his bun until he's a giggling mess in his arms. Instead, he accepts the graceless limbs and determined little fingers crawling back into his lap, Yoongi situating Jungkook so they're facing each other this time. Gently, he coaxes the child's arms straight above his shoulders, making sure his ears are tucked neatly in between first.

"Arms and ears nice and straight," Yoongi reminds him, just like he does every morning. Then his nimble fingers are taking off Jungkook's sleep shirt and replacing it with the red one in the blink of an eye, taking care not to tug on the sensitive ears, protecting them with his palm. Next come the overalls, Yoongi dressing the rest of him with the same gentle efficiency, always keeping a steadying hand close by. Satisfied with both of their work, Yoongi gives a few pets to Jungkook's dark hair, nearly as soft as his fur. "Good job, Kook."
