it's the things like this that jimin missed the most. but then, even saying something like that is hard to commit to, because jimin found himself missing everything about taehyung while he wasn't around. it was in the bigger things, of course. he missed taking care of him, helping to straighten out his clothes in the mornings, preparing lunches and dinners for him that were balanced in their nutrition just like they were supposed to be, helping to give him baths whenever taehyung let him when he was tired after a long day. but it was in the smaller things, too. the sound of taehyung's programs from the television while jimin worked on editing an article and the other watched so carefully, attentively, completely engrossed. the way that he can make jimin laugh with even the smallest of prompts, the feeling of taehyung curled up close to him underneath their covers, so warm and comforting, the way he just feels like home.
simply put, it wasn't right. it just wasn't home without taehyung here with him. and now that he's back, now that that something has settled inside jimin once again, he's sure that there's no way he could possibly be happier.
taehyung's words continue to coax another bubble of soft laughter out from his chest, even though jimin knows that he's being entirely serious, but that makes it all the more adorable. secretly, he's glad that taehyung has dismissed the icing idea so easily - a far cry from the way that he used to be, back when he still had more trouble controlling his impulses, even despite warnings from jimin himself. a lot of things have changed over the years, but not the big things, not the really important ones. not them. no, they still fit together just right. just perfectly. just like this. and jimin is letting out yet another laugh with taehyung's final question, the words coming out just as he places the last cookie onto the baking sheet, pressing it carefully into place.
"you can still have half the batch," he confirms easily, the happiness, fond amusement and adoration maybe just a little too obvious in his tone. "we can take the rest to yoongi hyung and jungkookie, maybe tomorrow. right now, i think these are ready to go in the oven." jimin looks over his shoulder, just enough to give taehyung a wordless hint that he needs just a little bit of space in order to do what needs to get done, and once he gets it, it doesn't take long for him to slide the baking sheet into the oven, to set a timer, turning to comfortably lean back against the counter once it's done.
