the thing is, maybe there is a part of jungkook, somewhere deep down inside that knows all of that. maybe he at least has an inkling of it, of the kinds of strings that need to be pulled in order for him to be in the position that he's in. but either way, it doesn't matter. because even if he does, his attitude doesn't change. even if he does, he's still going to believe the same things before anything else - that it all comes down to him. that it's because of him, he wouldn't be here if he hadn't earned it, if he hadn't proved himself, if he didn't have the kind of skill necessary. he wouldn't be here if he didn't have what it took, and he knows that. just like he knows damn well that yoongi knows that, too, regardless of anything else surrounding the situation.
but even if yoongi does know that, it doesn't seem to matter, either. the two of them are still going to have that constant push and pull, they're still going to bump up against each other, still going to butt heads. that much has been clear from the jump, and right now is no different. perhaps there's a part of jungkook that should have expected it, the way that yoongi smacks the water bottle out of his hand and sends it flying against the mirrored wall, whatever was left inside spilling out over the ground before he can do much at all. even if the action shocks him, takes him by surprise, even if it makes that something simmer under his skin a little more intensely than before - jungkook does his best not to show it. he would rather get at yoongi by keeping it together, at least on the surface, and, hey, it helps that the older man is still fucking hot, even when he's being an asshole.
it only makes it that much easier. easier to relax back into his position once the initial moment of shock has passed by, easier to tip his head back a little further, looking up at yoongi with slightly hooded eyes, a gaze that's clearly giving back just as much as he's getting. maybe it's something like a challenge, and that's before he responds with something that's a little more clear, at least to that point.
